Urinary Tract Infections in Pregnancy
PATHOGENS
- Common:
- Escherichia coli (80-85%)
- Less common but not rare:
- Staphylococcus saprophyticus
- Group B Streptococcus
- Other Enterobacterales
- Enterococcus spp.
- Rare:
- P. aeruginosa,H. influenzae, M. tuberculosis
- Ureaplasmaspp. and Mycoplasma spp. have been described, but their potential roles remain controversial.
- Chlamydia trachomatis can cause urethritis with dysuria and pyuria but is not associated with cystitis or acute pyelonephritis.
