Noma (cancrum oris)
PATHOGENS
- Pathogenesis is not well understood. A host of oral flora is thought to participate.
- Most frequently found:
- Fusobacterium necrophorum
- Prevotella intermedia
- Other that may interact:
- Borrelia vincentii
- Porphyromonas gingivalis
- Tannerella forsythia
- Treponema denticola
- Staphylococcus aureus
- Some nonhemolytic Streptococci
