MICROBIOLOGY
- Enveloped, single-stranded, positive sense RNA virus.
- Member of the Flavivirus family.
- Spread mostly by blood-borne transmission.
- Other routes (vertical transmission, sexual) less common but can occur particularly in the setting of HIV co-infection.
