Enveloped, single-stranded, positive sense RNA virus.
Member of the Flavivirus family.
Spread mainly through blood-borne transmission.
- Other routes (vertical transmission, sexual) are less common but can occur mainly in the setting of HIV co-infection, men who have sex with men.
