PATHOGENS
- Neisseria gonorrhoeae
- Chlamydia trachomatis
- Herpes simplex virus
- Mpox
- Treponema pallidum
- Chlamydia trachomatis
- Lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV) serovars
- Mycoplasma genitalium
- Men who have sex with men (MSM): enteric pathogens may include Salmonella spp, Shigella spp, Entamoeba histolytica, Campylobacter spp and Giardia lamblia.
- These may be sexually transmitted[5].
- Severely immunocompromised: CMV proctocolitis, usually a reactivation of a previously acquired infection.
