Mycobacterium xenopi
MICROBIOLOGY
- Thermophilic, slow-growing mycobacteria.
- Scotochromogenic
- Optimal growth at 45ºC.
- Generally considered of low virulence potential.
- Reservoir: warmer fresh waters but also found in hot- and cold-water taps. Also, other environmental sources, including soil.
