Endocarditis, prophylaxis
PATHOGENS
- Typical pathogens of concern:
- Oral flora: for example, Streptococcus viridans group is the usual concern re: dental prophylaxis for endocarditis.
- S. aureus: This is an occasional, preventable cause if the procedure is in a high-risk patient with active staphylococcal infection.
