Macacine herpesvirus 1
MICROBIOLOGY
- Macacine herpesvirus 1 (also Cercopithecine herpesvirus 1, CHV-1), formerly called herpes B, monkey B virus, herpesvirus simiae and herpesvirus B.
- Endemic among macaque monkeys:
- Transmission of this virus is probably by mucous or genital secretions.
- Usually asymptomatic in primates.
