- Chemoprophylaxis in all malaria-endemic areas (not limited to P. falciparum).[1]
- Severe malaria—atovaquone/proguanil is not primary definitive therapy
- Can be considered as initial oral bridge therapy to IV artesunate if IV artesunate not immediately available.
- As an alternative complete follow-on oral regimen after IV artesunate once parasitemia ≤1%.
