- Klebsiella species
- Enterobacter species
- Other Enterobacterales
- Streptococcus pneumoniae
- Streptococci
- Enterococci
- Polymicrobial (secondary peritonitis)
- Anaerobes (secondary peritonitis)
- Fungal organisms (particularly Candida spp.) have been described in both spontaneous and secondary bacterial peritonitis and are associated with poor outcomes.
- Other seen with some frequency:Cryptococcus neoformans, Aspergillus spp.
