MICROBIOLOGY

Single-strand, ambisense enveloped RNA virus, a member of the Arenaviridae family. of viruses.
- Considered an Old World arenavirus, closely related to the Lassa fever virus.
The virus finds hosts and reservoirs in rodents on all continents except Antarctica.
