- Heartland bandavirus (also known as Heartland virus, HRTV), a tick-transmitted phlebovirus, a member of the Bunyavirales order.
- Single-stranded RNA virus
- Similar to SFTS (severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus) seen in China.
- Vector: Amblyomma americanum (Lone Star tick appears able to transmit; this is the same primary vector for HME).
