- Tinea corporis and tinea cruris are fungal infections of the stratum corneum and terminal hair shaft caused by certain species of dermatophytes (genera Epidermophyton, Microsporum, Trichophyton).
- Trichophyton rubrum
- T. mentagrophytes

- T. violaceum (Africa, India)
- Microsporum canis
- Epidermophyton floccosum
