INDICATIONS

FDA

Complicated intra-abdominal infections
Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP)
Complicated urinary tract infections
Complicated skin and skin structure infections, including diabetic foot infections without osteomyelitis
Elective colorectal surgical prophylaxis
Acute pelvic infections (postpartum, septic abortion, and post-surgical gynecologic infections)
Ertapenem is FDA-indicated in pediatrics (3 months-17 yo) for the above indications.

NON-FDA APPROVED USES

Mild-moderate intra-abdominal infections (cholecystitis, cholangitis, diverticulitis, splenic and hepatic abscesses, peritonitis)
Uncomplicated ESBL infections (e.g., UTIs, biliary tract infections)
