PATHOGENS

  • Escherichia coli
  • Other Enterobacteriaceae
  • P. aeruginosa
  • Enterococcus species

General comments:

  1. E. coli accounts for approximately 75%; other Enterobacteriaceae - most of the rest.
  2. Uncommon pathogens: S. saprophyticus, S. aureus, N. gonorrhoeae, C. trachomatis, fungi, viruses.
  3. Prostatitis due to Enterococcus spp or Pseudomonas spp. is more difficult to treat.
